Bettws Chapel

Bettws is a small Chapel of Ease providing seating for 65 worshippersBettws Chapel and is situated two miles North West of St Teilo’s in the valley made between Bryn Arw and the Sugarloaf Mountain. The Chapel dates from the 14th Century although it was heavily restored in Victorian times. There is no vestry and outside there is a small entrance but no churchyard.

A small band of loyal worshippers met for services on the first and third Sunday of each month at 9.15am. Services are also held on Easter Sunday, Whit Sunday and Christmas Day. In addition there is a Harvest Festival and a Carol Concert (with refreshments held in the Crown Inn, Pantygelli); details of when these will be taking place will be advertised on the events page closer to the date.

Services are traditional with hymns but no other singing. The Church in Wales Prayer Book 1984 is used together with the Revised Common Lectionary and hymns tend to be traditional. Eucharistic vestments are worn.

The last ten years have seen an increase in the congregation and an increase in the role of Bettws Chapel in the life of the community. We would be delighted to welcome you to one of our services.

In the last couple of years the roof at Bettws Chapel has been renewed thanks to the support of the public and grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund, National Churches Trust, Church in Wales and the All Churches Trust.
